Emerson Burkhart – 'Gahanna'
1955, 29 x 36, oil on canvas, signed lower left, "E. Burkhart".

Gahanna represents one of the most exceptional landscapes Burkhart ever produced. His mastery of light, shadow and detail are all on full display with this great painting. It is housed in a massive Burkhart-built frame. The owner of this collection, Charles Weaver, was himself a painter and in fact painted side by side with Burkhart when this work was produced. Weaver passed along to his daughter a story noting that Burkhart at the last minute decided to include in his composition the old paint cans he found along the street. Very good condition.
